Default Activision+Vivendi = Activision Blizzard

I though this was a pretty interesting story in todays L.A. Times. I thought I would share with everyone.

"Activision Inc. and Vivendi announced a deal Sunday that would put "Guitar Hero" and "World of Warcraft" under one corporate roof and knock the king of the video game industry, Electronic Arts Inc., into second place.

Vivendi, the French conglomerate that owns Universal Music Group, said it would pay $1.7 billion in cash and contribute its Los Angeles-based games business, valued at $8.1 billion, for a 52% stake in a company to be called Activision Blizzard.

It would be worth an estimated $18.9 billion, eclipsing EA, which has a market capitalization of $17.7 billion."

I don't see much that Blizzard could offer to Activision seeing as how Activision is the maker of Call of Duty 4 and GH 3.

Yes, magical WW2 soldiers doesn't make a very good story IMO. Also gun wielding magical beings as well.

..... Yeah now everyone's gonna try and find guns inside MMO's cmon people if they were real guns they'd obviously be way imba! Those are like guns from the 1300s the kind that could be protected from by wearing iron chainmail.

That's a gun btw? Looks like one of those pieces of crap from Pirates of the Carribean

Doesn't activision deal alot in freebie online games.
I wonder if that means vivendi companies will help develop freebie online games.

Yeah I've seen quite a few links to them around here.

A very cool and interesting turn of events, to be sure.
